Updates from Cameroon
We will post updates on the village-based projects that Essoungue is undertaking in southeastern Cameroon.
Following our first fundraising launch at the end of May, 2020, Esonge-USA transferred funds to Essoungue-Dioula, to facilitate their work on Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Prevention Project.
In this phase, the women of Essoungue-Dioula purchased hygienic masks and blocks of soap to distribute to thirteen primary schools throughout the region of southeastern Cameroon. Because the teachers in the village schools come from towns and cities in other regions of Cameroon, Essoungue-Dioula was concerned that with the resumption of classes in early June, children and their families might be exposed to COVID-19 if the teachers had been infected or exposed in their hometowns. In addition, the close proximity of children within the school classrooms could increase the risk of transmission. In addition to distributing masks and soap, Essounge-Dioula ensured that information concerning COVID-19 and its symptoms, transmission, and prevention, reached every classroom in the form of a durable flyer. |
Essoungue-Dioula distributed masks, soap, and COVID-19 information to the primary school at Yenga-Doucement, one of the larger villages whose primary school attracts children from throughout the region.
Essoungue-Dioula will continue to distribute COVID-19 prevention supplies to all thirteen primary schools in southeastern Cameroon. |
